I love this scene and decided to take this sequence of three photos of the receding mist on a chilly winter morning on the banks of Hartbeespoort dam in Gauteng, South Africa. In this case I boosted the vibrance, contrast and saturation of the colours to help create the dramatic effect that this scene had to offer. This has really helped to portray the way I saw this scene in my mind. (3 of 3)

As much as fields of stunning spring flowers inspire me, so do scenes of isolation, such as deserts and other beautiful views such as this photo and the previous one over the misty waters of Hartbeespoort dam. Deep within my being it gives me a spiritually uplifting feeling.

While I was daydreaming over this scene the three cormorants suddenly appeared. Since I had my camera on me, this prompted me to quickly take this photo. Even they are quite far away they ad a sense of elegance to the picture for me. I also like how this creates three horizontal (almost geometric) lines across the image:-

Firstly the tops of the mountains in the distance
Secondly the buoys across the center of the picture (indicating shallow sand banks) and
Thirdly the cormorants forming a line in the bottom half of the image

My wife and I saw this retired old steam engine tractor gracing the gardens of a nursery on the outskirts of Johannesburg. Not having my camera on me I took this picture of it with my iphone. I suspect that it dates back to the 1920s or there about.
